FEED FORMULATION, LABOUR COST. LOCAL INGREDIENTS, TRANSPORTATIONS

Optimising fedd formulation, minimize wastage, enhance productivity and proper management

1. Optimize Feed Formulation
2.Enhance Feed Efficiency
3.Reduce Feed Wastage
4.Regular Monitoring and Adjustments

Feeding is the most delicate part of livestock farming as it is the major determinant of the success or failure / profit or loss in a livestock venture hence the saying ‘garbage- in, garbage -out’.
If you positively maneuver your feeding cost, the more your profit, otherwise huge loss.
Cutting down on cost eg. Milling cost , logistics and transportation will be a move in the right direction. Use of cheaper substitutes raw materials will help a lot in reducing the cost of feed greatly.

Sourcing for alternative feed materials and using them in the required proportion to complement other feed materials. For instance cassava peel could be used to complement maize in feed formation

Depend on raw materials cost, formulation & overall farm management.

Least cost Formulation, Improve Overall farm management.

In my understanding, cutting down the cost of feed is by opting to the most readily available foodstuff within your locality, in this case, the cost of transportation will drastically reduce as you have cut down the distance between the Farm or feedstuff suppliers to the Feedmill.
Again, going for unconventional feedstuff save alot of cost, as most have been ignored albeit having the nutritional potential to enhance nutrient intake.
