In a pellet mill, a conditioner’s primary purpose is to add moisture and heat to the feed material (mash) before pelleting, which helps to improve the binding properties of the particles, leading to the production of higher quality, more durable pellets; essentially, it optimizes the feed consistency for the pelleting process by allowing for better particle adhesion and minimizing pellet breakage.
