For Proper Starch Gelatinization, cooking, killing pathogens, improve pellet quality.

Improve pellet quality by increasing heat and moisture absorption but decrease pellet mill throughput.

    1. Moisture Penetration: Conditioners contain moisturizing agents, such as oils and humectants, which need time to penetrate the hair shaft and provide hydration. A short retention time may result in insufficient moisturization.

    2. Nutrient Absorption: Many conditioners are formulated with nutrients like vitamins, proteins, and amino acids that strengthen and repair hair. Adequate retention time allows these ingredients to be absorbed for optimal effectiveness.

    3. Detangling and Softening: The active ingredients in conditioners help smooth the hair cuticle, reducing friction and making the hair easier to detangle. Letting the conditioner sit ensures maximum softening and manageability.

    4. Protective Coating: Conditioners often form a protective layer over the hair to reduce damage from environmental factors or heat styling. Proper retention time ensures this coating is evenly applied and effective.

Feeding pelleted feed prepared using different conditioner retention time will not affect feed dry matter intake

The pellet durability and hardness also linearly increased with increasing conditioner retention time during pelleting or extrusion.

conditioning time during the pelleting process of starter feed increased the gelatinization of starch, durability, and hardness of the pellets but did not influence feed intake,

Retention is waiting time or period before going into extrusion and pelleting.
