The inclusion level of rapeseed meal is around 3 to 4 % only. More than that in starter diets will lead to gut irritation

The main antinutritional factors in rapeseed meal are glucosinolates and erucic acid. If the levels of glucosinolates are high in rapeseed meal they can reduce feed intake and growth performance, impaired growth, cause goiter, alter the levels of triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4), induce iodine deficiency, hypertrophy of liver, kidney and thyroid, as well as increased mortality. Younger birds are more susceptible to glucosinolates than older birds. Erucic acid in broilers can cause growth retardation and cardiac lipidosis and other cardiac lesions. Therefore, it is recommended not to exceed 5% of rapeseed meal in broiler diets.

The safe limit for including rapeseed meal in broiler diets is generally considered to be around 10-15%, while for layers, it should not exceed 7-8% due to the presence of anti-nutritional factors like glucosinolates, which can negatively affect growth performance if fed at higher levels; exceeding this limit can lead to reduced feed intake, growth rate, and egg production, along with potential digestive issues and thyroid dysfunction in birds.

The safe limit for including rapeseed meal in broiler diets is generally considered to be around 10-15%, while for layers, it should be limited to 7-8% due to the presence of anti-nutritional factors like glucosinolates, which can negatively impact growth performance if fed at higher levels; exceeding this limit can lead to reduced feed intake, growth retardation, and potential issues with thyroid function in birds.
