Prevention of coccidiosis is more effective than treatment. The best anticoccidial programs are those that carefully rotate the use of coccidiostats, vaccines, and chemical so the protozoa does not develop resistance to any particular intervention.

Drugs like sulphonamides, amprolium & toltrazuril can be used in the drinking water to treat coccidiosis.

The best treatment for coccidiosis depends on the severity of the infection and the type of animal affected. Generally, treatment involves anticoccidial medications, supportive care, and biosecurity measures.
1. Anticoccidial Medications
Sulfa Drugs (for poultry, cattle, goats, and other livestock):
Sulfadimethoxine (Albon)
Sulfaquinoxaline
Sulfamethazine
Amprolium (Corid):
Effective for poultry, cattle, and small ruminants.
Can be used as a treatment or a preventative.
Toltrazuril (Baycox):
Often used in poultry, swine, and cattle.
Highly effective for severe infections.
Diclazuril:
Used mainly in horses and livestock.
2. Supportive Care
Provide clean water and electrolyte solutions to prevent dehydration.
Supplement with vitamin A and K to help repair gut damage.
Feed high-quality, easily digestible food to aid recovery.
3. Biosecurity & Prevention
Keep housing clean and dry to prevent oocyst buildup.
Avoid overcrowding to reduce stress and transmission.
