Don’t overfeed your bird with their favorite treats, as this can lead to picky eating and food throwing.

    1. Poor Feeder Design – Feeders that are too shallow, too wide, or lack proper feed flow control encourage birds to scoop and scatter feed.

    2. Overfilled Feeders – When feeders are too full, birds tend to pick at their preferred grains and throw out the rest.

    3. Feed Particle Size & Texture – Birds often prefer certain sizes and textures of feed. If the feed is too coarse or has too much fine powder, they may throw it out while searching for preferred particles.

    4. Bird Behavior & Pecking Instinct – Chickens naturally scratch and peck at their feed, sometimes spilling it in the process. Some birds also develop bad habits due to boredom.

    5. Inadequate Feeder Height Adjustment – Feeders placed too low make it easy for birds to rake out the feed. Ideally, the feeder lip should be at the level of the bird’s back to minimize wastage.

    6. Poor Feed Quality or Palatability – If the feed has an unpleasant taste, smell, or contains foreign particles, birds may reject it by throwing it out.

    7. Competition Among Birds – Overcrowding at feeders can lead to aggressive pecking and feed wastage as dominant birds scatter feed while eating.
