Look for any pink or iridescent discoloration in the yolk or whites, as this may indicate bacterial growth.

Yes, expired eggs can look different, but sometimes the changes aren’t obvious. Here are some signs to look for:

    1. Shell Appearance – Expired eggs may develop a slimy or powdery feel due to bacterial or mold growth. Cracks or discoloration on the shell can also indicate spoilage.

    2. Float Test – A fresh egg sinks in water, while an old or expired egg floats due to the buildup of gases inside.

    3. Yolk and White Consistency – When cracked, a fresh egg has a firm yolk and thick egg white. Expired eggs may have a runny, watery white and a flattened yolk.

    4. Smell – One of the most obvious signs of a bad egg is a strong sulfur or rotten smell when cracked open.
