Here is a very interesting publication with a new spin on environmental enrichment. In this study the authors played relaxation music to broiler chickens and obtain significant improvement in final weight and FCR as well as scores for gate score, footpad dermatitis, hock burns and plumage cleanliness. Therefore, environmental enrichment, if done correctly, can have a positive effect on growth performance in poultry.

Environmental enrichment in commercial poultry settings reduces stress, promotes natural behaviors, enhances welfare, and improves productivity by minimizing aggression, encouraging movement, and stimulating cognitive engagement.

Environmental enrichment in commercial poultry settings significantly influences behavior and welfare by providing opportunities for birds to engage in natural behaviors like perching, foraging, dust bathing, and exploring, which reduces stress, promotes physical activity, and overall enhances their well-being by addressing their instinctive needs that would otherwise be unmet in a barren environment.

Environmental enrichment in commercial poultry settings significantly influences behavior by providing opportunities for natural behaviors like foraging, perching, and exploration, which can lead to increased activity levels, reduced stress, and ultimately improved animal welfare by allowing birds to engage in more species-specific behaviors and providing a sense of control over their environment; this can include adding items like perches, scratching posts, pecking objects, and varied lighting to stimulate natural instincts and reduce boredom-related behaviors like feather pecking.

Stocking density and Biosecurity make impacts on environmental enrichment.
