Feed hygiene is a crucial factor in ensuring the safety and quality of animal feed, directly impacting animal health and food safety. Scientific research highlights that contamination by pathogens such as <em data-start=”343″ data-end=”355″>Salmonella, <em data-start=”357″ data-end=”375″ data-is-only-node=””>Escherichia coli, and mycotoxins can compromise livestock production and pose risks to human health through the food chain (Bintsis, 2017). Implementing Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and thermal processing are effective strategies to minimize microbial contamination (Jones, 2011). What additional preventive measures do you consider essential in improving feed hygiene standards?

To maintain optimal hygiene and sanitation in a feed mill, key best practices include: regular cleaning and disinfection of all production lines, equipment, and storage areas, proper handling of ingredients, thorough employee hygiene practices, effective pest control, monitoring dust levels, and implementing a robust cleaning and sanitation program with documented procedures, including specific cleaning chemicals for different surfaces and designated cleaning schedules for each area.
