Soybean meal (SBM) and soybean cake are both byproducts of soybean processing, but they have some differences:

    Soybean Meal (SBM)

    • Definition: SBM is a high-protein feed ingredient obtained after oil extraction from soybeans.
    • Protein Content: Typically contains about 44-48% protein.
    • Fat Content: Low fat content, usually around 1-3%.
    • Use: Widely used in animal feed, particularly for poultry and livestock, due to its high protein content.

    Soybean Cake

    • Definition: Soybean cake refers to the solid residue left after oil extraction and may be less processed than SBM.
    • Protein Content: Generally lower in protein than SBM, around 35-45%.
    • Fat Content: Higher fat content compared to SBM, which can vary depending on the extraction method.
    • Use: Used as animal feed, but less common than SBM due to lower protein levels.

    Summary

    • Processing: SBM is more refined than soybean cake.
    • Nutritional Value: SBM is higher in protein and lower in fat than soybean cake.
    • Applications: SBM is preferred for high-protein diets, while soybean cake may be used in less protein-demanding formulations.

SB Meal and Oil are different bye products from same source.

They serve different purposes for different reasons.

The protein contents is markedly different but they both serve farmers globally at different but important purposes and levels.

The difference between Soybean Meal (SBM) and Soybean Cake lies in their nutritional content:

    SBM – Protein content of about 44% – 48%, oil content up to 1% – 2%

Soyabean Cake -oil content up tp 6% – 10%, protein content lesseer than that of SBM
