The recommended quarantine period for new birds is generally 21 to 30 days, during which they must remain disease-free. This allows enough time for diseases to manifest and prevents spreading illness to your existing flock. New birds should be kept separated in a designated area with strict biosecurity measures and monitored daily for signs of illness. Additional precautions include feeding and handling quarantined birds only after attending to the main flock, and treating them for parasites and vaccinations as needed.

Best practice, however, is to implement all-in, all-out management wherever possible to minimize the risk of disease from introducing new birds.
