Lighting controls chicks’ feeding, growth, and rest patterns, promoting healthy development and uniform growth.

Lighting plays a vital role in the growth and development of chicks by influencing their feeding behavior, activity, and hormone regulation. Proper lighting encourages chicks to eat and drink regularly, supports good growth, strengthens immunity, and helps maintain a regular day–night rhythm for rest and development.

Lighting is crucial for chick growth and development, influencing feeding, activity, stress levels, and the timing of sexual maturity. Proper lighting promotes early feed and water intake, prevents aggression, and supports overall physiological function, while incorrect intensity or duration can lead to growth retardation, stress, and other health issues. The intensity and color of the light also play different roles; for instance, continuous low-intensity light helps with initial adaptation, while different wavelengths can impact behaviors like foraging and egg-laying later on.

Lighting significantly impacts chick growth and development by regulating biological clocks, influencing metabolism, and shaping behavior. Proper light exposure, especially in the first few days, helps chicks adapt to their environment, find food and water, and adapt to the post-hatch world. Light color also matters, with red light supporting early development and blue-green light stimulating foraging. Inconsistent or absent light can lead to poor feed intake, increased agitation, and developmental issues.

Lighting enhances birds activity to eat which make them grow and develop well. Also, uniformity of light in the pen house will contribute to the uniformity of the flock.
