The DDC (Dual Diameter Conditioner) is comprised of two counter rotating shafts of differing diameters and the potential for differing rotational speeds. It was developed by Wenger Mfg. for use in extrusion processing to more fully ‘condition’ meal prior to extrusion. Several feed mills tested it as a way to improve meal conditioning prior to pelleting. It allows for more complete dispersion of steam into the meal providing better ‘cook’ resulting in improved digestion and also ‘stronger’ pellets. See attached slide.
