Avian influenza (bird flu) spreads through direct bird-to-bird contact, contact with infected birds’ secretions (feces, saliva) or contaminated environments (manure, equipment, surfaces), and via wild bird migration, but human-to-human spread is rare, with most infections coming from close contact with infected poultry or contaminated items, often through touching eyes, nose, or mouth after contact.
