A more appropriate ratio will digestible lysine to metabolizable energy. This ratio changes with age and productive traits (e.g., growth, laying eggs, milk production, work, etc.). It also differs for different animal species (e.g., broiler chickens, turkeys, breeders, laying hens, quails, duck, geese, etc.). A proper digestible lysine to metabolizable energy ensures that the animal has enough energy to conduct metabolic processes involved in protein synthesis and deposition when all amino acids are present in a proper digestible balance basis. We only look at lysine because it is the basis for all amino acids in the ideal protein concept. Therefore, if the metabolizable energy is in sn adequate proportion to lysine, and all other amino acids are in an adequate proportion to lysine, then all other amino acids are in an adequate proportion to metabolizable energy.
