Over‑grinding typically increases fines and powdery material, which raises the Pellet Durability Index (PDI) variability and often reduces average PDI because fragile, overly fractured particles form weaker pellets.
It also increases heat and friction during pelleting, promoting starch gelatinization irregularities and pellet friability, leading to higher breakage and lower transport durability. -
Over grinding reduces pellet durability Index by creating too many fine particles that weaken pellet structure.

Over-grinding generally has a negative impact on the Pellet Durability Index (PDI) in feed manufacturing.
