The coefficient of variation (CV%) measures how uniformly ingredients are distributed in the feed after mixing. It is calculated from the variation in nutrient (often salt or a tracer) across multiple samples.

    What CV% indicates:

Low CV% → ingredients are evenly mixed → good mixer performance

High CV% → uneven distribution → poor mixing, risk of nutrient imbalance (some birds get more, some less)

    Acceptable CV% levels:

≤ 10% → Generally considered good mixing uniformity (industry standard)

    ≤ 7% → Very good / excellent mixing

    > 10% → Poor mixing, needs improvement

In feed production, maintaining a CV% below 10% ensures consistent nutrition, better growth, and overall flock performance

Lower CV% = better mixer performance

    ≤ 10% is acceptable, and ≤ 5% is excellent
