The Soy Excellence Center (SEC) - MENA presents its “SEC’s 88th Aquaculture Production Training Program on Shrimp Hatchery and Farming " held virtually on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, at 12:45 PM Cairo Time. This program focuses on equipping aquaculture professionals with essential knowledge on shrimp hatchery and farming.
Key sessions include an overview of the Management of Shrimp Hatchery and Nursery by Dr. Sherif Sadek, followed by a presentation on Sustainable Shrimp Farming, Productivity, Profitability and Environmental Performance by Dr. Mohamed Sobhi. Prof. Mohamed Osman addresses the Importance of Shrimp Nutrition and Feed Management
Biosecurity and Health Management in Shrimp Hatchery and Farms is discussed by Prof. Salah Mesalhy Aly, while Prof. Diaa Al-Kenawy provides practical tips and techniques to avoid common mistakes in fish farming.
The training concludes with an open discussion, Q&A session, and closing remarks by the distinguished panel, fostering engagement and knowledge exchange among participants.

Dr. Sherif Sadek

During1986 1987, he has obtained a grant research study on the crustacean aquaculture at Auburn University, USA (Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquaculture). In 1998, he has passed an exam on the freshwater prawn Macrobrachium rosenbergii) culture, to obtain the degree of Docteur de l'INP from the Institut National Polytechnique (INP), Toulouse France. Since 1991, and till today, he was assigned as the creator and general manager of the firm "Aquaculture Consultant Office (ACO)". Sadek has been nominated as a consultant for different projects in North Africa and Arab countries. Since 2010 he is a partner and the general manager of the Egyptian Franco mariculture company (Egymarine co.), in Manzala lake, Egypt. He has published around 40 complete scientific papers in different international journals and also 35 short papers in different local and international aquaculture conferences. Sadek has been nominated to be the vice president for two Egyptian NGO organization: Egyptian Aquaculture Society ( EgAS ) and West Port Said Aquaculture Cooperative ( West PAC ). In August 2019 Sadek has been nominated the President for the African Chapter(AC) till March 2022, which belong to the World Aquaculture Society (WAS). The AC will look for the development of the African aquaculture countries in the continent.
Dr. Mohamed Sobhi Hamza

Mohamed expert in shrimp farming Aand development. He holds Master Degree in Sustainable Development for Lakes Using Remote Sensing and GIS Information form Suez Canal University. As well, he obtained undergraduate in Marine and Fish Biology form al-Azhar University. Mohamed worked as a Research Specialist in Lakes and Fish Resources Protection and Development Authority till 2015. He supported in the development and promoting the shrimp farming in Egypt with specific concern to the big shrimp farms project (Suez Canal Company and big projects). He was able to deliver training on the new models and high technology in Shrimp Hatching and Farming at Ecuador in 2018. Moreover, he worked in aquaculture development specially shrimp farming and bio security in different gulf area. He has contributed as speaker in number of workshops for aquaculture bio-security measures in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for many years. Due to his vast experience in Shrimp, he shared in developing the feeding program and other improvements (vitamins, probiotic, molasses, and chemicals) with Mr. Fernando castor T (Ecuador), Rodrigo Moncayo (Ecuador), Jef Peeters (Belgium). Mohamed attended number of training programs in different aquaculture area such as animal data collection for the scientific research, water sampling collection, fish hatcheries management, hatcheries Construction, fish disease, new technology for shrimp farms, farming and nursery of shrimp, water shoreline monitoring (water parameters, image satellite analysis (marine),Mohamed attended number of national and international conferences for development veterinary education and Marine and freshwater aquaculture and fisheries.
Prof. Mohamed Fathi Osman

In 1988, Professor Osman received his PhD from Gottingen University (Germany) in Fish Nutrition. In addition to the academic position, he had performed several consulting assignments in different feed factories. He was responsible for creating different fish feed formulas especially for tilapia, carp, mullet, sea bream, sea bass and shrimp. Since 2017 he is an aquaculture consultant for the USSEC in Egypt. In 2006, he worked as aquaculture consultant for the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation. In 2008, he was loaned from the University to the Ministry of Agriculture as a Chairman of the General Authority for Fish Resources Development (GAFRD).In 2011, he was hired as President of the Agriculture Research Center (ARC).He is also Fellow of the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research

Diaa works as Head of Research at the Central Lab for Aquaculture Research, CLAR. He currently has over 30 years of experience in aquaculture. Diaa has studied Agricultural sciences and got a PhD in aquatic toxicology 2006 and has participated in and led many research and development projects as a scientist at WorldFish (1998-2021). He is mostly concerned about environment pollution and water quality and impact on fish resources. Diaa is involved in aquaculture and fisheries training programs to teach participants how to produce more affordable and nutritious food from sustainable fish farming. He led the WorldFish Egypt’s research on fish feeds and nutrition through the Global FISH CRP and is enthusiastic of teaching farmers and student’s the best farming practices
