SEC’s 91st Aquaculture Production Training Program on the use of ICT applications in aquaculture value chain - MENA

The Soy Excellence Center (SEC) - MENA presents its “SEC’s 91st Aquaculture Production Training Program on the use of ICT applications in aquaculture value chain " held virtually on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, at 12:45 PM Cairo Time. This program focuses on equipping aquaculture professionals with essential knowledge on the use of ICT applications in aquaculture value chain
The course is conducted in Arabic language
Key sessions include an overview of Smart Aquaculture: Enhancing Efficiency through Information Technology by Prof. Salah Mesalhy Aly, followed by a presentation on Blockchain in Seafood Traceability: Ensuring Transparency and Quality by Dr. Ahmed Diab. Eng. Hazem Abd ElTawab addresses the Innovative Solutions: How to benefit from of IoT (Internet of Things) Systems in Recent Aquaculture
Artificial Intelligent in Aquaculture; Challenges and Opportunities is discussed by Dr. Neamat El Tazi, while Prof. Diaa Al-Kenawy provides practical tips and techniques to avoid common mistakes in fish farming.
The training will concludes with an open discussion, Q&A session, and closing remarks by the distinguished panel, fostering engagement and knowledge exchange among participants

Dr. Ahmed Diab
Scientist

Dr. Ahmed holds Ph.D. of Agricultural Science: Zagazig University 2015.
Currently, he is Scientist in Aquaculture and Fisheries at Central Laboratory for Aquaculture Research (CLAR), Agricultural Research Center (ARC), Egypt. He is Member of the executive office for the minister of agriculture and land reclamation, Experienced for twenty years in Aquaculture and fisheries sector.
Dr. Ahmed worked as a visitor assistant professor at faculty of Fisheries technology and aquaculture, Arab academy for science, technology and maritime transport, Egypt. He has 22 publications in national and international journals, Strong background in general administration, Member at many development projects related to aquaculture and the development of policies for the fish sector, and developing relations with stakeholders.
Dr. Ahmed has vast experience in various fields of aquaculture and integration between aquaculture, plant and animal production, field of optimal utilization of water resources, designing feasibility studies for projects, and linking between applied research and production.
He was a researcher at Department of fish extension and socio-economics, central laboratory for aquaculture research. In addition, he was Manager executive office at Central Laboratory for Aquaculture research.
Dr. Ahmed is working as Lecturer at faculty of fisheries technology and aquaculture, Arab academy for science, technology and maritime transport – AASTM.
Dr. Ahmed is a member knowledge bank and climate change, Agriculture Research Center.
He has participated in different Researches and managing huge number of projects funded by: Swiss Agency for Development, ICARDA, EU, FAO, GIZ, University of Hohenheim (Germany), IFAD and STDF.

Eng. Hazem Eltawab
Founder and General Manager of ReNile

Hazem holds Master of Engineering from Arizona State University. He is Founder and General Manager of ReNile which is seed start-up providing IoT solutions for agriculture in MENA region which have more than 180 farms in Egypt, UAE, Kuwait and Oman and saved about 25% of their operating cost.
He worked part time business consultant, Arab Organization for Industrialization. Also, worked as Technial Assitant at Zewail City for Science and technology.
 As well, he worked in position of portfolio Manager at Nexel Partners which is management consulting firm that is supporting clients in the MENA region and the project was in Kuwait and UAE. Addition, he wrked as Chemical Process design Engineer at SABQ Company.
 He has awarded the following:

  • 1st place in Entrepreneurship World Cup in Egypt (EWC)
  • 1st place in GIZ Agri-digital competition
  • 1st place Hult competition ZewailCity.
  • 1st Annual investment meeting (AIM) startup in Egypt
  • Winner of Tanmia and tatweer Masr (TWT) grant

Dr. Neamat El Tazi
Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of AbuErdan

Neamat ElTazi is a co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of AbuErdan, a powerful SaaS platform that helps poultry companies increase their profitability while reducing their production waste using the latest technologies in artificial intelligence, machine learning and blockchain. AbuErdan provides poultry companies with a visibility into their in-field operations which effectively augments their ability to make corrective decisions at the right time. Neamat has a Ph.D. in data management and data analytics from University of Michigan and Cairo University. Neamat has more than 18 years of experience in product development and management in multiple industries in different countries. Neamat is also an associate professor in Cairo University where she has multiple research findings in data analytics. She strives to reduce the gap between academia and the industry world. Neamat was recognized globally and won multiple awards from international organizations. Recently, she has been selected as one of the top 10 impactful woman in technology

Prof. Diaa Al-Kenawy
Head of Research, CLAR, Egypt

Diaa works as Head of Research at the Central Lab for Aquaculture Research, CLAR. He currently has over 30 years of experience in aquaculture. Diaa has studied Agricultural sciences and got a PhD in aquatic toxicology 2006 and has participated in and led many research and development projects as a scientist at WorldFish (1998-2021). He is mostly concerned about environment pollution and water quality and impact on fish resources. Diaa is involved in aquaculture and fisheries training programs to teach participants how to produce more affordable and nutritious food from sustainable fish farming. He led the WorldFish Egypt’s research on fish feeds and nutrition through the Global FISH CRP and is enthusiastic of teaching farmers and student’s the best farming practices.
