A section that should be handled as others on the farm/production line
-
Biosecurity should be a separate discipline on its own. As a poultry farmer, you should endeavour to build a functional biosecurity unit to plan and implement policies and enforce compliance on the farm. Biosecurity is only as good as the level of compliance and must be 100% non-negotiable.
-
Even in some universities ,Biosecurity is a course on its own in Department of Animal Production and Health to show how crucial it is in production.

We often think that Biosecurity is all about what we do on the farm to prevent/control diseases. Biosecurity starts before the first foundation of the farm is dug. You’ll be playing catch up if you have not included bio-security at the planning stage of your farm. It goes beyond chemicals and decontamination chambers. It includes farm layout, policies, access controls and so much more.

Simply put, it is the security of life. We can say biosecurity entails segregation, isolation, and disinfection.
