Gizzard plays a crucial role in digestive system of birds. It’s responsible for the mechanical breakdown of feed to smaller particular or reduces the surface area of feed particules for enzymes to act on it and further digestion goes on in the GIT
-
The gizzard grinds feed into smaller particles, which improves digestion efficiency by increasing the surface area for enzymes and acids to interact with. The gizzard’s ability to grind food is adapted to the diet, and it can enlarge to accommodate larger feed particles. The gizzard’s muscles contract in a rotary and crushing motion & reduce the particle size.

Gizzard helps to reduce the particle size of feed. It will increase the surface area of feed for the enzyme action
-
The gizzard help in breaking down food particles for efficient nutrient absorption

The gizzard is a muscular organ in poultry that functions as a mechanical grinder to break down feed into smaller particles, improving digestion and nutrient absorption.

he gizzard a specialized muscular organ in birds, plays a crucial role in feed particle size reduction by mechanically grinding food, which enhances digestion efficiency by increasing the surface area for nutrient absorption

Efficient feed grinding means less feed is wasted in undigested form.

- Grinding food: The gizzard breaks down food into smaller particles.
- Mixing with digestive enzymes: The gizzard mixes food with digestive enzymes.
- Chemical degradation: The gizzard chemically breaks down nutrients.
- Regulating feed flow: The gizzard regulates the flow of feed.
- Responding to diet changes: The gizzard responds to changes in the coarseness of the diet.
-
It is reduce the particles size by the process of mechanical way & improve the nutrient absorbtion.

The gizzard is a muscular organ that reduces the particle size of ingested foods and mixes them with digestive enzymes.
