Yeah for sure, insecurity played immense role in the dilapidation of animal production industries in the northern state if our country which left our farmers worthless.

Main reasons why things are expensive because most foodstuffs are brought from their but others have started growing things from other parts of Nigeria

Yes very high and this is having direct impact on the price of farm produce. However due to the low purchasing power of the people, farmer are not really able to increase price immediately to corresponden with the constant rise. We need quick government intervention before farmers start running at loss and closing down

The current situation now requires farmers to reduce losses as much as possible whilst maximizing productivity at the same time. Only those who keep accurate data can trace their performance, and those who have the know-how can attempt to improve.

This is absolutely true and it’s very disheartening, the future of Agriculture is at stake as some farmers are already losing interest due to hike in prices of inputs.

Insecurity has really affected farming of crops especially in the North, hence, the high cost of feed ingredients. Another factor is the value of our Naira which makes most farmers and middle men to export most feed ingredients like maize, sorghum, soya beans to neighbouring countries.

This is so true. Looking at the value of the naira, I honestly believe I would also sell at the international market for more value if I were in their shoes 😢

I think insecurity is not only the problem here, we need to move from seasonal farming in Nigeria to all round the year farming. And also improve on our storage system.

Unfortunately, the various agencies responsible for price regulation in our beloved county are still in the womb.

Brilliant points so far; government policies, stakeholders involvement in innovative approach, etc.

I’d like to add that, in order for a lot of farmers to remain in the business until price crashing policies and methodologies are implemented, price regulation is essential. With price regulation or controlled pricing, farmers will be able to earn a living regardless of the cost of input. That way, they can survive the inflation that is ravaging the land.

What we need now is partnership and also specifications of products from crop producer, feed material should be produce different from food materials

The government’s involvement in the industry is crucial, but it is equally important for individual stakeholders, such as animal nutritionists, to actively seek out innovative sources for feed formulation in order to adequately meet the daily nutritional requirements of the poultry sector. By taking this initiative, not only will the high costs associated with feed be reduced, but it will also result in a significant boost in the production scale of farmers. It is essential for animal nutritionists to view challenges as opportunities for growth and success, and to wholeheartedly embrace the task of finding solutions to these challenges. The government’s involvement in the industry is crucial, but it is equally important for individual stakeholders, such as animal nutritionists, to actively seek out innovative sources for feed formulation in order to adequately meet the daily nutritional requirements of the poultry sector. A lot of academic studies that have shown some headway should be taken to the field and not buried on some supervisor’s table. That is if we are confident of the results of those studies and not just publishing to win grants and awards
