40-50% of dietary energy and on 20-25 % of protein

Since the goal of the P/E ratio is the evaluation or recommendation of a diet that will satisfy protein requirements of a population when mean energy requirements are satisfied.

Balanced Nutrition: A suitable energy-to-protein ratio ensures that animals receive balanced nutrition, which is essential for proper growth, maintenance, and production.
-
1. Reduced growth rates: An imbalanced E:P ratio can lead to reduced growth rates, decreased feed efficiency, and lower productivity.
2. Increased mortality: Severe imbalances in the E:P ratio can increase mortality rates, particularly in young or stressed animals.
3. Environmental concerns: Excess nitrogen from imbalanced E:P ratios can contribute to environmental pollution, such as water eutrophication.

A proper energy-to-protein level is important. However, we should be looking for the digestible lysine-to-energy ration in poultry diets, because lysine is the basis of ideal protein. Maintaining a proper energy-to-amino acid ratio should translate into more efficient growth and maximization of lean tissue deposition. An un balance of amino acid-to-energy ration can results in worsen FCR and higher fat deposition in poultry, which will negatively affect the economic performance of poultry production.
