All breeder companies have recommendations for feeding phases; most recommend starting a grower phase around 10 to 12 days of age. Nonetheless, there is no magic number of days or age. I can formulate a grower feed to be fed for 5, 7, 10, 14 or 17 days. What really matters is to know the nutrient composition of the feed and the nutrient needs of birds and compare to see how well they match. In theory, the greater number of feeding phases I use the better growth and economic performance I should obtain as I am minimizing deficiencies and excess of nutrients.
