I will focus on some of the challenges in transitioning to organic farming as I see most of the benefits has been well articulated here.
As a poultry farmer, one of the challenge is the variability of the result gotten when using say organic medication. Two batches of same organic concoction is just not same as results varies with the different batches of animals that one administers them to.
Also agreeing on standardising the inclusion rates of organic medication on our animals is as varied as the numbers of farmers out there.
Maximum use of limited land is also a big factor in organic farming. A farmer practicing free range poultry will require more lands with attendant challenge of biosecurity, providing fencing to wade off predators and wild birds or even keeping the maintenance cost of the facility down.
Thus, organic practitioners are forced to price their goods more than what it could be if done in the other way.
A runaway world population needs the cheapest food it can get in the least duration. Especially for third world countries like ours.
Climate change is also a big challenge for organic farmers as temperature, rain, adverse and unpredictable weather conditions exposes the practioners of organic farming to serious business risk on investments made.

One of the most significant advantages of organic farming is the minimal use of synthetic chemicals like pesticides.
Organic farmers make use of natural methods of pest and weed control, such as crop rotation, companion planting, and the introduction of beneficial insects like bees and butterflies. This reduction in chemical usage not only reduces the risk of chemical residues in our food but also helps protect pollinators and other beneficial wildlife.
