Deep litter system is a kind of housing system for poultry or other animals based on repeated spreading of straw or sawdust on the floor of poultry farms.

An initial layer of litter/sawdust is spread on the floor for the chicken to use for bedding material and to defecate in, and as the litter is soiled, new layers of litter are continuously added by the farmer. Culled from the internet.

According to center for disease control, rats can pass diseases such as Hantavirus, Lassa Fever, Leptospirosis, Monkeypox, Salmonellosis, and more. It is therefore of utmost importance to guard against rat infestations in poultry farms.

The commonest issues would be the rising cost of feeds. I believe it is as a result of the current inflation on Nigeria.
