EOs can improve the balance of microbiota in the digestive system, which can improve nutrient absorption. EOs can also increase the production of digestive enzymes.

EOs enhance poultry production by stimulating the activity of various digestive enzymes, decreasing the number of fermentation products.

Essential oils (EOs) can be used as an alternative to antibiotics in poultry diets because they have antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties

Jeffery has made some very good points about feed additives and their use – he is correct in stating the only thing that can replace an antibiotic is another antibiotic – nonantibiotic additives can improve animal/bird health and lessen the likelihood of needing to administer an antibiotic.
