To perform a Pellet Durability Index (PDI) test:
-
Sample Preparation: Collect a representative sample of pellets.
-
Testing Procedure: Place the pellets in a PDI testing device or a standard sieve shaker for a specified duration (usually 10 minutes).
-
Weight Measurement: Weigh the remaining pellets after shaking, then calculate the PDI using the formula:
<math xmlns=”http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML” display=”block”><semantics><mrow><mtext>PDI</mtext><mo>=</mo><mrow><mo fence=”true”>(</mo><mfrac><mtext>Weight of pellets after test</mtext><mtext>Initial weight</mtext></mfrac><mo fence=”true”>)</mo></mrow><mo>×</mo><mn>100</mn></mrow><annotation encoding=”application/x-tex”>\text{PDI} = \left( \frac{\text{Weight of pellets after test}}{\text{Initial weight}} \right) \times 100</annotation></semantics></math>PDI=(Initial weightWeight of pellets after test)×100
This gives you the percentage of durable pellets.
