Difference between Bone based and Rock phosphate based DCP
Hello all – one point was coming to my mind and requesting you all to kindly answer and help me in knowing as to really what it is and how ???????
Into broiler feed – mainly Meat and Bone meal and Bone based DCP (Di Calcium phosphate) is being used.
I was going through BIS manual and specification no IS: 1948 – 1968 revised in 2009, and points which comes in front are as follows:
Point no 2.1 – Description:- Bone meal should be obtained from undecomposed bone after removing of adhering tissues, defatting, sterilization by steam under pressure, drying and grinding. The material shall be nearly white in colour. Bone meal should not smell even after prolonged storage and shall be free from adulterants, insects and fungus infestation
In table 2.2 – It is clearly written that spores of Bacillus anthracis and Clostridium species – should be NIL.
Now my questions are:-
1. Is that the reality what we are getting and feeding to birds – which is going ultimately in humans?
2. This process laid by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards – ISI division) is this really followed as per my understanding – doing proper sterilization of bone – make extraction of GELATINE weak and quality will not be fine and GELATINE is the main product of these industries. Bone meal and DCP only helps in recovering there operational costs and are there BY-PRODUCTS.
3. If we do not know all these, should not it is our duty to find the exact reason and then determine, whether to use or not to use ?
