Coccidiosis : Oocysts -hatch and invade intestinal tiuss causing damaged and creating more Oocysts

Oocysts sporulate within 28 hrs and become infective

Other birds injective Oocysts while drinking and eating

Infected bird sheds infective Oocysts (eggs) in feces contaminating the environment.

Coccidiosis, which is caused by Protozoal parasites and the symptoms include bloody diarrhea and most times it comes with lethargy. Coccidiosis presents reduced growth, and in severe cases, death

Newcastle disease is caused by Newcastle disease virus (NDV) with symptoms that include respiratory distress presenting as coughing, sneezing and gasping; It is common to paralysis, neurological presenting as twitching and tremors; it often comes with diarrhea also

Avian influenza which is cause by Influenza A virus has symptoms that include respiratory presenting as coughing, sneezing and difficulty breathing and systemic presenting as fever, lethargy; avian influenza can come with high mortality

These are 3 most common but there are other diseases like:

Infectious Bronchitis which is caused by Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV), the symptoms like respiratory presenting as coughing, sneezing, wheezing; and in some cases, neurological signs. In laying birds, it can lead to decreased egg production

Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) also called Gumboro Disease is caused by Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (IBDV) with symptoms which include depression, diarrhea, ruffled feathers, and immunosuppression, making birds more susceptible to other infections

Marek’s Disease which is caused by Marek’s Disease Virus (MDV) with symptoms like tumors, paralysis, immunosuppression and worst cases increased mortality.

Infectious Coryza which is caused by Avibacterium paragallinarum presents symptoms that include Nasal discharge, swelling of the face and wattles, conjunctivitis like inflammation of the eyes and in most severe cases reduced growth.

Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD) is caused by mycoplasma gallisepticum and its symptoms include respiratory signs like coughing, sneezing, difficulty breathing; they can also show nasal discharge. When it affects laying birds, it can lead to reduced egg production

There are others also like Colibacillosis, Salmonellosis and Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS)

Cocci, diarrhea/ loose motion reduce feed intake, poor ADG & finally increase FCR.

    1. Coccidiosis (Eimeria spp.)

Symptoms: Bloody or watery diarrhea, Ruffled feathers, weakness, and reduced appetite, Pale comb and wattles, Poor weight gain and stunted growth

Prevention: Biosecurity, vaccination, anticoccidial drugs in feed/water and dry litter management.

    2. Newcastle Disease (ND) (Paramyxovirus)<div>

Symptoms: Respiratory distress (gasping, coughing, sneezing), Twisted neck (torticollis), paralysis, Drop in feed and water intake, Greenish diarrhea and Sudden death

    <div>

Prevention: Vaccination (live and killed vaccines), strict biosecurity.

    3. Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD / Gumboro) (Birnavirus)

Symptoms: Swollen bursa of Fabricius, Weakness, ruffled feathers, Watery or white diarrhea, High mortality, especially in young birds

Prevention: Vaccination at 10–14 days, strict hygiene.

    4. Infectious Bronchitis (IB) (Coronavirus)

Symptoms: Sneezing, gasping, nasal discharge, Watery eyes, swollen sinuses, Reduced feed intake, Soft-shelled or misshapen eggs in layers

    Prevention: Vaccination, good ventilation, biosecurity.

    5. Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) (Influenza A virus)

Symptoms: Sudden high mortality, Swelling of the head, comb, and wattles, Coughing, sneezing, difficulty breathing, Greenish diarrhea, Nervous signs (tremors, twisted neck)

Prevention: Biosecurity, restricted farm entry, vaccination in endemic areas.

    6. Salmonellosis (Pullorum and Fowl Typhoid) (Salmonella spp.)

Symptoms: White pasty diarrhea, Weakness, poor growth, Swollen joints, Sudden death in severe cases

Prevention: Clean hatchery and farm environment, vaccination, antibiotics under vet guidance.

    7. Mycoplasmosis (Chronic Respiratory Disease) (Mycoplasma gallisepticum)

Symptoms: Coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, Swollen eyes and face, Reduced weight gain and feed conversion, Egg production drop in layers

    Prevention: Vaccination, antibiotics, improved ventilation.

    8. Fowl Cholera (Pasteurella multocida)

Symptoms: Sudden death in severe cases, Swollen wattles and joints, Green or yellow diarrhea, Respiratory distress

    Prevention: Vaccination, biosecurity, proper sanitation.

    9. Marek’s Disease (Herpesvirus)

Symptoms: Paralysis of legs and wings, Weight loss, ruffled feathers, Tumors in organs (advanced stage)

Prevention: Vaccination at hatchery, genetic resistance breeding.

    10. Necrotic Enteritis (Clostridium perfringens)

Symptoms: Sudden death, Bloody or dark-colored diarrhea, Weakness, depression, Dehydration and reduced feed intake

Prevention: Good litter management, probiotics, antibiotics under veterinary supervision.
