Enzymes are used in formulation of animal feed with the aim of increasing feed efficiency to be able to achieve increased animal weight (gain) and improved products including milk and egg for unit feed and given time.

Enzymes to feed is to improve the utilization of the feed, increasing the amount of nutrients available to the birds which improves their health, lowers feed cost for the farmers and reduces farm waste volume.

Enzymes such as phytase break down phytate, a form of phosphorus that is indigestible for many animals, making phosphorus more bioavailable. This reduces the need for inorganic phosphorus supplements.
Other enzymes like xylanases and beta-glucanases break down non-starch polysaccharides (NSPs), improving the digestibility of energy and nutrients.
