Reduce Feed Quality and Quantity both while storage of feed for longer time.

The consequences of feeds that have stayed long in storage are.

    1. Quality loss

    2. Weight loss

    3. Health risk

    4. Economic loss

Yes, you can differentiate between expired feed and feed that has stayed for a long time by checking the following factors:

    Expired Feed:

    1. Moldy growth: Presence of visible mold (green, blue, or white spots).

    2. Foul Odor: A rancid, sour or unusual smell.

    3. Insect Infestation: Presence of weevils, mites, or other pests.

    4. Clumping: Moisture causes feed to stick together.

    5. Nutrient loss: Fats may go rancid, proteins break down, and vitamins degrade, making it unsafe for animals.

    Old Feed:

    1. Colour Slightly faded: Some nutrient loss but no spoilage.

    2. Slightly Stale smell: Might not be as fresh but doesn’t smell bad.

    3. Dry but not moldy: No visible mold or moisture damage.

    4. No insects or pests: Might have lost some nutritional value but remains safe.

Feeds that have stayed in storage for too long can lead to several negative consequences

    1. Nutrient Degradation

    2.Myctoxin Growth

    3.Oxidation of fats

    4.Loss of feed efficiency

To Avoid this we should follow

    1.Temperature control

    2.Proper storage practices

    3.FIFO technique

Can we differentiate between feed that has expired and one that has stayed for long ?

        The key differences

        1. *Expiration date*: Expired feeds have a defined expiration date, while feeds that have stayed long may still be within their expiration date.

        2. *Nutritional value*: Expired feeds may have a more significant loss of nutritional value, while feeds that have stayed long may still retain some nutritional value.

        3. *Safety concerns*: Expired feeds pose a greater safety risk due to potential contamination or mold growth.

I thought firstly maintain FIFO to use. Then use floor plate ,keep gap from wall ,Proper ventilation of warehouse, Temperature control and delivery within 7 days. keep dry place.

    <div>1. Nutrients Degradation.</div>

    2. Mold and Mycotoxin Contamination.

    3. Pest Infestation.

    4. Reduced Feed Efficiency and Animal Performance.

    5. Physical and Sensory Changes.

The following are the major factors which affect the quality and weight of feedstuffs during storage, major losses due to damage due to rain and condensation, high temperatures, insects and fungi.
