Poultry cannot effectively digest all carbohydrates, particularly non-starch polysaccharides (NSPs) found in plant materials, due to the limited presence of digestive enzymes like cellulase. While they can efficiently utilize simple sugars and some starches, complex carbohydrates often require the inclusion of feed additives or enzymes to improve digestibility.
