the typical cycle for laying hen is 12month to 18 months per my experience in the poultry industry. things you need to consider to achieve highest production are feeding and nutrition, good water supply, bio security and proper care for the birds. some laying hen can even lay hens up to 24 months or more

In addition to the above points, the longer one can sustain the peak production period, the better the ROI

A hen’s laying cycle typically lasts about 12 months, with peak production occurring during the first year, often between 24 to 44 weeks of age. Egg production will gradually decline after the first year, and while some hens may continue laying for several years, the rate and quality of production decrease over time. Factors like breed, age, nutrition, and light exposure influence the laying cycle and overall egg production.

A hen’s laying cycle typically lasts about 12 months, starting when they are 18-22 weeks old. During this period, egg production rises to a peak (around 90% within the first 6-8 weeks) and then gradually declines. Factors like breed, age, season, and health influence the length and intensity of the laying cycle, and egg production will eventually decrease as the hen ages.

In addition to the factors mentioned, nutrition is very key. The goal of the farmer is to keep the laying bird at the peak performance period for as long as possible.
