Treating lice in a flock requires immediate, thorough action: isolate affected birds, dust all chickens with food-grade diatomaceous earth or Poultry Dust (like Pestene), and deep clean the coop. Repeat treatment every 7–10 days for at least 3 weeks to kill newly hatched lice. Ensure birds have access to a dry dust bath mixed with DE or sand.

Treating a poultry lice infestation requires a two-pronged approach: treating the birds directly and thoroughly cleaning the coop. Use insecticides like permethrin or natural methods like diatomaceous earth (DE) on birds, focusing on the vent, under wings, and neck. Clean and sanitise the coop, removing all bedding, and re-treat the birds 10–14 days later to kill newly hatched lice.

Treat lice by applying a recommended poultry insecticide directly on the birds, especially under the wings and around the vent, and repeat after 7–10 days. Clean and disinfect the house, replace old litter, and give multivitamins to help birds recover.

You have to confirm the license infestation by checking birds (especially under wings, vent, neck) for moving lice (small, fast, wingless insects).
Then treat the birds (all flock at once, including apparently healthy ones) using chemical options (most effective/fast) such as Permethrin-based sprays/dusts (e.g., Permectrin, poultry-safe brands). Spray/dust birds thoroughly (avoid eyes); repeat in 7 days to kill new hatchlings.
There is also Elector PSP (spinosad-based concentrate) and Ivermectin.
Always treat the environment very critical lice live off-host in cracks): Remove all old bedding/litter; burn or bag securely. Deep clean coop (pressure wash if possible), disinfect walls, nets and nests. Spray/dust pens with same product
Follow-up & prevention: very important, repeat bird treatment in 7–10 days. Monitor weekly; improve biosecurity (no wild birds, clean regularly).
