lux is equal to the illumination of a one metre square surface that is one metre away from a single candle.

Lux levels measure the intensity of light that falls on a surface, such as a wall or floor. The unit of measurement for lux levels is lux, which is equal to one lumen per square meter (lx=lm/m2).

1. Broilers (meat chickens):
During brooding (first few days): 20–40 lux.
Growing period: 5–10 lux, though some producers may use dimmer light (~2 lux) to reduce activity and aggression.
Pre-slaughter: Often reduced further to calm the birds.
2. Layers (egg-laying hens):
Early growth (chicks): 30–50 lux.
During laying: 10–20 lux, to encourage egg production.
Nesting areas: Slightly dimmer, around 5–10 lux, to create a calming environment.
3. Breeders:
Controlled light intensity and duration (e.g., 10–20 lux) to regulate reproduction
