-
Stunted growth and poor weight gain.
-
Brittle, dull, or ruffled feathers and abnormal feathering patterns.
-
Skeletal deformities, such as rickets, bowed legs, or rubbery beaks.
-
Decreased egg production and poor shell quality (soft or thin shells).
-
Neurological issues, including paralysis, star-gazing, or loss of balance.
-
Pale combs and wattles, often indicating anemia.

Nutrient deficiencies in chickens commonly manifest as poor feathering, reduced egg production/thin shells, leg weakness or deformities (rickets), stunted growth, and pale combs. Other signs include lethargy, ruffled feathers, poor appetite, and neurological issues like curled toes. These issues are often caused by inadequate vitamins A, D3, or minerals like calcium and phosphorus.

Nutrient Deficiency often manifest physically through stunted growth, skeletal deformities, and abnormal skin or feather conditions. Internally, these gaps lead to reduced immunity and organ dysfunction, such as fatty liver or muscle wasting, which significantly increases mortality rates. Behavioural changes, including lethargy and cannibalism, frequently serve as early indicators that the diet is not meeting the animal’s metabolic requirements.
