In an egg storage facility, fresh eggs can be identified by their sinking and lying flat in water, while old eggs will float or stand upright.

Identifying fresh and old eggs in an egg storage facility can be done using several methods:

    1. Float Test (Water Test)

Fill a container with water and gently place the eggs inside.

Fresh eggs: Sink to the bottom and lay flat.

Slightly old eggs (1–2 weeks): Stand upright but still touch the bottom.

Old eggs: Float to the top due to increased air pockets inside.

    2. Candling Test (Light Inspection)

Hold the egg against a bright light in a dark room.

Fresh eggs: Have a small air cell and the yolk remains centered.

Old eggs: Show a larger air cell, and the yolk moves freely due to thinner albumen.

    3. Shake Test

Gently shake the egg near your ear.

Fresh eggs: No sound (thick albumen keeps the yolk stable).

Old eggs: Sloshing sound due to thinning egg whites.

In a fresh egg, the yolk sits up high, and the white is thick and closely surrounds the yolk. An older egg has a flat yolk that breaks easily and a thin, watery white.
