Intensive, semi intensive and extensive systems

The three main types of poultry production systems are intensive, semi-intensive, and extensive, differing in terms of input, output, and how poultry are housed, fed, and managed. The intensive system offers high input and output, often using cages or deep litter, while extensive systems involve low inputs and outputs with birds foraging freely. Semi-intensive systems fall between these, providing a balance of controlled housing and outdoor access.
