1. Wheat Bran: Crude Fiber: ~10–12%. Widely available and affordable. Also adds energy and some protein.
2. Rice Bran: Crude Fiber: ~7–15% (higher if de-oiled). It can be used in moderate amounts. Good source of energy and B-vitamins.
3. Maize Bran (Corn Bran): Crude Fiber: ~10%. By-product of maize processing. It helps in improving gut motility.
4. Groundnut Husk or Groundnut Cake (Low oil):
a. Husk: High in fiber (~30%); use in small amounts only.
b. Cake: Moderate fiber (~6–8%) and rich in protein.
5. Soybean Hulls: Crude Fiber: ~30–35%. It is often used in layer and breeder diets. It helps support gut health but should be limited in starter diets.
6. Alfalfa Meal (Lucerne): Crude Fiber: ~20–25%. Rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. It is often used in small amounts in layer diets.
7. Palm Kernel Cake (PKC): Crude Fiber: ~12–16%. It is common in West Africa. High in fiber and fat; use in controlled amounts to avoid growth depression.
8. Cassava Peel (Dried and Processed): Crude Fiber: ~12–20%. It should be properly processed to remove cyanide. Low-cost and locally available.
9. Forage (for local or free-range birds): Grasses, legume leaves (like Leucaena, Moringa, Centrosema). It offer variety to stimulate pecking and provide micronutrients.

Sources of fiber include byproducts like wheat bran, oat hulls, and soybean hulls, as well as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes
