Feed additives serve as either Antibiotics (Growth Promoters), Probiotics, probiotics Enzymes, Acidifier, Coccidiostats, vitamins and minerals depending on the active ingredient and the intended purpose ☺️

    Feed additives effects are

    Growth promoters(probiotics , prebiotics , enzymes)

Gut Health & immunity enhancers (organic acids , essential oils )

    Performance Boosters(amino acids , electrolytes)

    Feed efficiency enhancers( emulsifiers)

    1. Growth promoters:

Antibiotics (e,g., Tylosin, Bacitracin, Virginiamycin): Enhance growth by reducing harmful gut bacteria, Improve feed conversion ratio (FCR), Overuse can lead to antibiotic resistance.

Probiotics (e.g., Lactobacillus, Bacillus subtilis): Promote gut health by increasing beneficial bacteria, Improve digestion and immune response, Reduce chances of diarrhea and gut infections.

Prebiotics (e.g., Mannan-Oligosaccharides, Fructo-oligosaccharides): Support the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, Enhance nutrient absorption and immunity.

Enzymes (e.g., Phytase, Protease, Xylanase): Help break down nutrients like phosphorus, protein, and fiber, Improve feed digestibility and reduce waste.

    2. Immune Boosters and Health Enhancers:

Vitamin and Minerals (e.g., Vitamin A, D, E, Selenium, Zinc): Essential for bone development, immunity, and egg production, Prevents deficiencies like rickets and weak eggshells.

Organic Acids (Formic acid, Propionic acid, lactic acid): Lower gut pH, reducing harmful bacteria like Salmonella, Improve digestion and feed efficiency.

Essential Oils (e.g., Oregano, Thyme, Garlic extracts): Natural antimicrobial properties, Stimulate appetite and digestion.

    3. Performance enhancers:

Amino acids (e.g., lysine, methionine, threonine): Essential for muscle growth and feather development, Improve egg size and production.

Toxin binders: (e.g., activated charcoal, bentonite clay, zeolites): Protect against mycotoxins in feed, Prevents liver damage and reduced performance.

Electrolytes: (sodium bicarbonate, potassium chloride): Help birds cope with heat stress, Maintain water balance and reduce mortality.

    4. Egg quality and shell strength enhancers:

Calcium and phosphorus (limestone, Dicalcium phosphate): Strengthen eggshells and prevent weak bones, Essential for layers and breeders.

Vitamin D3: Improves calcium absorption, preventing soft eggshells.

Feed additives in poultry can significantly impact health and performance, with benefits including improved digestion, nutrient absorption, gut health, and disease resistance, as well as enhanced growth and meat quality. In this study, it is concluded that feed additives exert a positive effect as a growth promoter and improve FCR and the immune system. Increase production and improve the quality of meat and eggs.
