Newcastle disease is a highly contagious viral disease that affects poultry and other birds. Preventing it requires a combination of biosecurity, vaccination, and good management practices. Here’s how you can prevent Newcastle disease in your poultry farm:
1. Vaccination
Use a proper vaccination schedule for Newcastle disease, such as:
Day 1: Hitchner B1 (Eye drop or drinking water)
Day 7–14: LaSota (Eye drop or drinking water)
Week 4–6: LaSota booster (Drinking water or spray)
Every 3 months: LaSota or Komarov (For long-term protection)
Store vaccines properly (2–8°C) and administer correctly.
2. Strict Biosecurity Measures
Limit farm visitors: Only allow essential personnel.
Disinfect equipment, shoes, and hands: Use footbaths at entry points.
Isolate new birds: Quarantine new or sick birds for at least 2 weeks.
Control rodents and wild birds: They can spread the virus.
3. Good Management Practices
Provide clean water and balanced nutrition to boost immunity.
Avoid mixing birds of different ages.
