To calculate solvent loss on drying (also known as “Loss on Drying” or LOD), you weigh a sample before and after drying it in an oven at a specified temperature, then calculate the percentage weight loss, which represents the amount of volatile material (including solvents and moisture) that evaporated during the drying process; the formula is: (Initial weight of sample – Final weight of sample) / Initial weight of sample x 100%.

To calculate solvent loss on drying, also known as “Loss on Drying” (LOD), you weigh a sample before and after heating it to a specified temperature to evaporate any volatile components like solvents and moisture, then calculate the difference in weight as a percentage of the initial weight; essentially, “Solvent Loss on Drying (%) = (Initial weight – Final weight) / Initial weight x 100%”.

Solvent loss should be below 1.5 kg per ton industry practice

need to calculate as follows.
1. (Opening stock + receiving ) – Closing stock = Loss quantity.
2 Loss % = Loss quantity /Total production * 100
