    Physical Quality Checks:

Color: Soybean meal should be light beige or golden in color.

Odor: It should have a characteristic odor and be free of any foreign or off-odors.

Appearance: The meal should be granular with irregularly sized particles.

Bulk Density: Lower than normal bulk density could indicate the presence of hulls, while higher bulk density could suggest adulteration with sand.

Moisture Content: High moisture content can lead to spoilage and reduced shelf life.

Crude Fiber: High crude fiber content can negatively impact digestibility.

Presence of Hulls: The presence of hulls (outer layer of the soybean) can reduce the protein content and nutritional value of the meal.

To assess soybean meal quality physically, observe its color (light beige or golden), odor (characteristic and free of foreign smells), and appearance (granular, irregularly sized particles).

The most important quality criteria’s for soybean are crude protein, moisture, KOH and crude oil contents. These criteria vary greatly depending on the origin of the soybean. In addition to these analyses, physical analyses such as seed size, color and seed shape are also important in soybeans
