AMEn stands for Apparent Metabolizable Energy, nitrogen-corrected, and it’s very important in poultry nutrition – especially for formulating efficient and balanced rations.
It’s the amount of energy from feed that is available to the bird for maintenance and production, after correcting for nitrogen (protein) retention.
Apparent = because it doesn’t account for endogenous losses.
Nitrogen-corrected (N-corrected) = means it’s adjusted to remove the influence of protein gain or loss, for more consistent energy comparisons between feeds.
AMEn = Gross energy intake – Energy in excreta – (8.22 8 * nitrogen retained) / feed intake
Where,
Gross energy and energy in excreta are measured using a bomb calorimeter (kcal)
Nitrogen retained = Nitrogen intake – Nitrogen excreted (g)
8.22 is the energy correction factor per gram of nitrogen retained (kcal/g), based on the energy value of uric acid in birds.

Sustainability is the ability to maintain or support a process over time without depleting natural or physical resources. Sustainability is the future. Every segment development it must be considered for a longer run.
