According to the instructions listed on the label for each vaccine
-
1. In-Ovo Vaccination: When: Day 18 of incubation (before hatching). How: Automated machines inject the vaccine into the egg. Used for: Marek’s disease, Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD). Best for: Large commercial hatcheries
2. Subcutaneous or Intramuscular injection: When: At day-old (usually at the hatchery). How: Manual or automatic injection, often in the neck or thigh. Used for: Marek’s disease, Gumboro (if not in-ovo). Best for: Day-old chicks before delivery to farm
3. Drinking water vaccination: When: Typically at 7 days, 14 days, or as needed. How: Vaccine is dissolved in water and given during a period of thirst. Used for: Newcastle Disease (ND), Infectious Bronchitis (IB), IBD. Best for: Easy, low-stress mass vaccination. Important: Withhold water 1–2 hours before to ensure birds drink

4. Eye drop / Nasal drop (Oculo-nasal): When: For precise application, typically 7–14 days old. Used for: Lasota (ND), IB vaccines. Advantage: Accurate dose delivery and fast immune response

5. Spray vaccination: When: Day-old and/or during rearing. How: Fine mist sprayed over birds. Used for: IB, ND, and others. Best for: Fast application in large flocks, often at hatchery

- Spray: This is a common and effective method for respiratory vaccines like Newcastle Disease (ND) and Infectious Bronchitis (IB).<source-footnote ng-version=”0.0.0-PLACEHOLDER” _nghost-ng-c1211439601=””></source-footnote> A coarse spray is generally preferred to ensure the birds inhale larger droplets, reaching the upper respiratory tract and eyes.<source-footnote ng-version=”0.0.0-PLACEHOLDER” _nghost-ng-c1211439601=””></source-footnote> This method is often used in hatcheries for day-old chicks or in poultry houses.<source-footnote ng-version=”0.0.0-PLACEHOLDER” _nghost-ng-c1211439601=””></source-footnote><sources-carousel-inline ng-version=”0.0.0-PLACEHOLDER” _nghost-ng-c3185455596=””> <sources-carousel _ngcontent-ng-c3185455596=”” hide-from-message-actions=”” _nghost-ng-c538198158=””></sources-carousel></sources-carousel-inline>
- Drinking Water: This is a convenient method for live vaccines, particularly for diseases targeting the gut, like Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD).<source-footnote ng-version=”0.0.0-PLACEHOLDER” _nghost-ng-c1211439601=””></source-footnote> It requires careful preparation to ensure all birds receive an adequate dose.
