Difference between Broilers and Layers (Class 9):

Broilers are poultry birds raised mainly for meat production, while layers are raised for egg production. Broilers grow very fast and are ready for slaughter in a short time (about 6–8 weeks). Layers grow comparatively slower and start laying eggs at around 18–20 weeks of age.

Broilers need feed rich in energy and protein to support rapid weight gain. Layers need balanced feed with enough calcium to produce strong eggshells.

Broilers are usually reared for a short period, while layers are kept for a longer production cycle
