Ayodeji Fatokun, Assistant Production Manager, Animal Care Services Konsult, Nigeria
Animal Care Services Konsult Nigeria Ltd, a leading feed production company in Nigeria, has achieved meaningful operational gains by applying insights from the SEC Nigeria program. According to Ayodeji Fatokun, the shift was driven by practical learning and exposure to global best practices introduced during the Soy Excellence Center (SEC) learning track.
Before the program, operations were largely focused on routine feed production. The SEC Nigeria program broadened that focus, introducing a more structured, specialized approach aligned with international standards. One of the most visible outcomes was the launch of a structured monthly training program for his company’s production staff. Delivered in batches, it now reaches about 57 employees each month and covers key areas, including feed quality management, feed mill operations, and safety procedures. The impact has been clear: fewer quality-control issues, greater efficiency, stronger workflow organization, and greater operational discipline on the production floor.
The technical improvements have been equally significant. By applying concepts such as retention time, gelatinization, and optimized processing methods, particularly in full-fat soy and pellet production, the company has enhanced pellet quality, improved digestibility, and achieved more consistent feed output. These changes have resulted in a 15% to 20% increase in pellet production, alongside a 10% reduction in overall production costs. These savings have largely come from improved efficiency, reduced overtime, and lower fuel consumption.
Greater operational efficiency has also strengthened the company’s ability to consistently meet production targets. This progress earned formal recognition within the organization and led to a leadership role.
Reflecting on the experience, Ayodeji remarked, “SEC Nigeria gave us the structure and knowledge to operate at a higher standard. Today, we have better informed staff, stronger product quality, more efficient systems, and clear cost savings.”
