If the DOCs are sourced from a hatchery, then it should be noted that, the foundation of their health status, begins from there. If they are healthy from the hatchery, then preparations for receiving the chicks must have been well-planned, before arrival to their brooding pen, where should neither be hot for their body nor cold, of which the pen’s temp should keep their body temperature, consistently warm for the next three to five days.

We lay old news.paper on sawdust, to insulate them from the floor temperature.

They are consistently monitored to be sure that, as each takes feed, water is equally taken, as both should be easily accessible to each of the birds. If a part have access to feed, without close to water, you find such, having a hard crop, without water.

If the chicks are healthy and well attended to, right from their first day, the develop according to the foundation of care given them.

The early phase is the most critical, and should not be handled by, an inexperienced or negligent person.
